Acadia Beekeeping Club

Did you know that bees play an important role in agriculture in Nova Scotia, pollinating plants such as blueberries, apples and more?

Beekeeping

Occasionally the Acadia Community Farm hosts a beehive in partnership with local beekeepers, the Department of Biology and the Acadia student beekeeping club. The hive is used for public demonstrations about honeybees and beekeeping and for teaching and research.  The importance of all bees in agriculture as well as native bee conversation are popular study topics.

Acadia students are welcome to join the Acadia Beekeeping Club. Volunteers can train to become Queens or Workers. Queens help manage the hive and handle bees and Workers provide assistance to the Queens.
